A faith-based residential internship program for young adults, ages 21-31, Lawrence House Service Corps is an intentional, progressive Christian community, sponsored by All Saints’ Episcopal Church in South Hadley, MA.
The program runs annually early September (with a late-August move in) through June. We accept applications on a rolling basis and will consider each application as it arrives. Occasionally there is an opportunity to join the program midyear in January, so applications will be considered during the program year as well.
Volunteering
Current agency placements include work with inner-city youth through the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holyoke; addressing housing insecurity through Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity; interfaith campus ministry through Five College Common Cup; supporting immigrants seeking sanctuary through Pioneer Valley Workers Center. Other placements are being developed, including work in the areas of environmental stewardship and justice, food insecurity, and inner-city parish ministry.
Financial Package
Through Lawrence House, Corps members participate full-time in social justice work in the surrounding area; engage in spiritual formation and vocational discernment; receive room and board and stipends of $150 for food and $150 cash.
The LHSC program will cover interns’ living expenses and give them a year of practical experience. Interns will engage in the life of the community, the parish, and the world around them, developing spiritual disciplines to support them in a lifetime of service.
