Our world urgently needs sustainable ways of living on the earth, exercising power, and walking with God. The Ark Fellows program invites you to practice these ways of living, leading, and serving the neighbors who need us most.

Why Northwest Arkansas? Even if the only Arkansans you know are Bill Clinton, Johnny Cash, or Maya Angelou, you'll understand what people from our state long for: Models of power and prosperity that are accountable to the common good. Low-wage jobs in the region both attract new immigrant neighbors and leave people struggling among the "working poor". Ark Fellows' internship placements focus on securing the rights of low-wage workers, services for low-income families, and reliance on local food sources.

Why the Episcopal Church? The Episcopal Church draws on ancient Christian practices while remaining open to contemporary insights. We ground our community in a rhythm of common prayer and celebrations of the Eucharist (communion) together. Ark Fellows will explore ancient patterns of life by visiting a Benedictine monastery and adapting some monastic principles to modern life. We also use forms of theological reflection that allow us to discover God's presence in the truth of our own experience. The Ark Fellows program promotes tolerance and inclusion of all people in the spirit of the Episcopal baptismal promise to "respect the dignity of every human being."

Why you? We welcome all applicants who are open to Christian insight and practice and who desire to live in community and work for justice. We also hope that our Ark Fellows bring a sense of fun and adventure!

Ark Fellows will spend 4 days each week serving in local non-profits. We reserve Fridays for guided spiritual reflection, servant leadership training, and social justice education. Ark Fellows will share community meals and conversation throughout the week. Our program year lasts from September 3rd, 2013 through August 8th, 2014.
